Sound Seal's "EXT" Sound Curtain panels stand up to the worst
New England winter in 30 years:
Winter 2010/2011 brought 52.1 inches of snow, temperatures as cold as -14 degrees, and winds up to 68 mph to Western Massachusetts, home of Sound Seal Acoustical Products.
Yet our array of exterior grade Sound Curtain panels installed on fencing behind our manufacturing facility are doing just fine. Sound Seal's R & D efforts in the noise control industry include an outdoor aging test where a variety of flexible sound curtain panels are installed on chain link fencing for evaluation. The sound curtain panels featuring loaded vinyl noise barriers and specially faced quilted fiberglass absorbers are monitored for quality, appearance, longevity, structural integrity and any signs of the effects of sun, rain, snow and winds. The oldest panels have been out there since 1999, the year Sound Seal moved into its new facility. As new product components and techniques for outdoor versions of sound curtains are developed, those varieties are added for this grueling evaluation.
